Abingdon & Witney College is seeking an ambitious, inclusive and highly motivated Curriculum Manager to lead and further develop our Fast Forward and Gateway programmes, specialist pathways designed to equip learners who have been disadvantaged throughout their education with the independence, confidence, and skills needed for adult life and future work. These programmes are at the heart of our commitment to inclusive education, supporting learners who have been out of education for some time, or who are not yet ready to join a vocational programme to make genuine progress in academic, personal, and employability skills. This role offers the chance to shape a curriculum that truly transforms lives.
As Curriculum Manager for Fast Forward & Gateway, you will lead a specialist team dedicated to delivering inclusive, high-quality learning experiences. You will work closely with the Head of Faculty and the Quality Lead to ensure students receive a curriculum that is ambitious, accessible, and centred around individual progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum plans tailored to the unique needs of Fast Forward and Gateway learners.
- Drive continuous quality improvement with a focus on inclusive practice and personalised learning.
- Build strong relationships with employers, parents, schools, and external agencies to support learner progression and transition.
- Lead the development of new courses, accreditation routes, and innovative approaches to teaching and supporting disadvantaged learners.
- Ensure delivery across multiple sites is consistent, flexible, and responsive to learners' needs.
- Oversee learner recruitment, induction, welfare, and conduct.
- Teach and support learners who have a range of experiences of the education system to date.
- Promote Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Safeguarding in every aspect of the curriculum.
Essential Qualifications
- A relevant degree, HND, or professional qualification.
- A full teaching qualification.
- Understanding of EHCP processes or readiness to develop this expertise.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Experience collaborating with parents, external agencies and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to plan and manage a dynamic, specialist curriculum that meets diverse needs.
- Up-to-date knowledge of curriculum development and flexible learning approaches.
- Ability to lead change and support staff wellbeing.
- Able to work effectively across multiple college sites.
Desirable Qualifications
- Assessor or internal verifier qualifications.
- Experience in relevant industries outside education to support work-related learning.

Training & Development
Any successful candidates will be required to complete a structured training pathway, unless they already hold the relevant qualifications. This includes a two-week teacher induction, followed by the Award in Education and Training (AET), and then the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprenticeship. There is also the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at a later stage.
