About the Role
As an Electrical & Fire & Security Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and practical training to learners across electrical installation and fire/security disciplines. You will support apprentices and adult learners in developing the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required to work safely and competently within the construction and building services industries.
Working within both classroom and workshop environments, you will help learners gain the confidence and competence needed to progress into successful careers within the sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons across electrical installation and fire/security programmes.
- Teach apprentices and adult learners in classroom, workshop, and simulated industry environments.
- Support learners in developing the technical skills, knowledge, and behaviours required by employers.
- Carry out training, assessment, and progress reviews to ensure learners achieve their full potential.
- Promote key workplace behaviours including punctuality, teamwork, professionalism, and effective communication.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that reflects current industry standards and best practice.
- Ensure all teaching and practical activities are undertaken safely and in compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues and industry partners to maintain high-quality provision and excellent learner outcomes.
Skills & Experience
- Level 3 NVQ/Diploma (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation.
- Significant industry experience within electrical installation, building services, or related sectors.
- Strong practical skills and up-to-date industry knowledge.
- Experience working with, or a sound understanding of, fire alarm and/or electronic security systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine enthusiasm for developing others and sharing professional expertise.
- Passion for teaching and inspiring the next generation of electrical and fire/security professionals.
- Previous teaching, training, coaching, or assessing experience.
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Assessor and/or Internal Quality Assurance qualifications.
- Industry qualifications or experience relating to fire detection and alarm systems, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, or other electronic security systems.
