Abingdon & Witney College is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Bicycle Maintenance Tutor to deliver engaging adult education workshops as part of our Oxfordshire Adult Learning programme. Oxfordshire Adult Learning provides flexible, community-based learning opportunities that enable adults to develop practical skills, build confidence, and enhance employability or personal interest. Our courses support lifelong learning and help learners make positive changes, whether they are learning for work, wellbeing, or enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering engaging, skills-based bicycle maintenance sessions.
- Using a variety of teaching methods to support diverse adult learners.
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Assessing learner progress and providing clear feedback.
- Embedding safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion into all aspects of delivery.
- Supporting learners to build confidence, independence, and practical skills.
Essential:
- Passion for bicycle maintenance and adult education.
- Experience in bicycle maintenance.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection relevant to the role.
- Level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications in literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to engage and support diverse learner groups.
Desirable:
- Experience teaching in a post-16 or adult learning setting.
- While a teaching qualification and teaching experience are beneficial, it is not essential for this role.

Any successful candidates will be required to complete a structured training pathway, unless they already hold the relevant qualifications. This includes a two-week teacher induction (must be completed within probation), followed by the Award in Education and Training (AET) including Assessor is required, and then the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprenticeship. Completion of this structured learning programme is expected within 3 years. Furthermore, there is the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Learning Status (QTLS).
