The Marketing Campaigns Team is led by the Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment. The Marketing Campaigns Officer will report directly to the Marketing Campaigns Manager and is responsible for development and delivery of marketing campaigns that are core to the University’s marketing and student recruitment strategy.

The successful candidate will work across digital and traditional media and support the Marketing Campaigns Team in delivering for all levels of student recruitment (Undergraduate and Postgraduate) in all markets (UK and International).

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • To work with the Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment and the Marketing Campaigns Manager to develop marketing plans for key recruitment campaigns, across undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the UK and Internationally.
  • To lead on delivery of campaigns and projects against a set budget and to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) provided by the Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment. Report campaign progress to the Marketing Campaigns Manager at regular intervals during the campaign.
  • To track, monitor and analyse campaign progress and effectiveness – producing analysis reports (including budget and KPI tracking information) with recommendations to the Marketing Campaigns Manager and Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment at the end of a campaign.
  • To lead with innovative ideas to develop creative and competitive campaigns that integrate digital and traditional media that stand out in the Higher Education marketplace to maximise recruitment and market share.
  • To develop and lead on lead nurturing and conversion activities for prospective students and applicants.
  • To develop strong relationships with staff from across academic departments and service departments in the University.
  • To develop and manage relationships with third party companies (such as UCAS, The Student Room, IDP) and develop content to market Aberystwyth University in the best light.
  • To develop strong relationships with advertising agencies in the UK and internationally to contribute to the development of advertising campaigns that are trackable against a set budget and key performance indicators.
  • To develop and lead on online engagement activities for prospective students and applicants to meet key performance indicators.
  • To write content for and manage production of marketing collateral.
  • To research, write and edit across appropriate marketing communication channels (website, social media, and online platforms) to promote the University’s work to regional, national, and international audiences.
  • To promote the implementation of the University style and brand guides across all marketing collateral.
  • To ensure that suppliers are fully briefed on how to implement the University’s visual identity.
  • On occasion to act as a representative of the University at external and internal events including, but not exclusively, open days, UCAS conventions and other exhibitions.
  • It is essential that the post holder is willing and has the ability to work flexibly: weekend and evening work will be required.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by your line manager, commensurate with the role’s grade.
  • Engage in university-level projects and initiatives as directed, and undertake any additional duties commensurate with the role, as assigned by the line manager.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting colleagues during periods of high demand, including attendance at key university events such as open days and graduation ceremonies which may include weekend work.

Who you are – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable evidence of experience of working in a marketing/ communications field and working across the full marketing mix.
  • Experience of successfully managing numerous marketing communication campaigns simultaneously.
  • Substantial experience in digital marketing and utilising emerging channels to target the target audience.
  • Experience of utilising market research to inform a campaign plan.
  • Experience of creating campaign analysis reports and recommendations.
  • Excellent understanding of various marketing channels to reach the target audience.
  • Thorough understanding of the importance of brand management.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Budget management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexibly: weekend and evening work will be required.
  • Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level C1.

Desirable

  • Professional Marketing or PR related qualification.
  • Experience of working in the Higher Education sector.
  • Experience with email marketing.
  • Experience of working with a CRM system.
  • Familiarity with the Higher Education sector.
  • Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level C2.
