An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Modern Apprentice to join the technical team at Abertay University. This is a varied and challenging role that offers the opportunity to work alongside a small team of professionals within a large organisation, whilst studying for an HNC national award in Applied Science.
The role will consist of 4 working days at Abertay University and 1 day of study, at Dundee and Angus College, to complete an HNC in Applied Science and completing SVQ activities throughout. The HNC will begin in late August and the successful candidate will be expected to begin at Abertay University prior to this.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:- Assist in preparing student practical stations
- Assist in preparing solutions for use in the laboratory
- Cleaning equipment and laboratories
- Assist in maintaining stocks of chemicals
- Assisting technicians with ordering of materials and equipment
- Assisting with the preparation of risk assessments and COSHH forms
- Knowledge of health and safety requirement for laboratories
- Develop an awareness of curriculum
