Job Description
International Officer
Grade 6 (£32,079.92 – £37,694.44)
Full Time – Permanent
Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students, recognised by our status as Sunday Times UK University of the Year 2021 for teaching quality and Scottish University of the Year for social inclusion.
The International Recruitment and Partnerships Office (IRPO) is responsible for growing the University’s international reputation and revenue. Comprising an international recruitment team tasked with increasing the number and diversity of international students on campus in Dundee; an international partnerships team focussed on developing our portfolio of Abertay programmes being taught overseas; and a Student Exchange and Study Abroad function which manages student mobility programmes with partner institutions on an exchanged and direct enrol basis; the team works closely with academic faculties and professional services, particularly Admissions and Marketing teams, to develop and deliver the University’s international agenda.
Â
The International Recruitment Team (IRT) in which this role sits, leads the development and implementation of strategic and operational recruitment and internationalisation plans, aligned with the University’s goals and priorities. The team’s focus is in leading the institution’s work in growing our international student recruitment, as well as our study abroad and student exchange programmes.
Â
The University now seeks to appoint an International Officer to contribute to the successful delivery of key recruitment and conversion activities, with the aim of attracting international applications and enrolments for all University programmes. Abertay seeks to increase and diversify its international student cohort and this role supports the attraction and conversion of prospective international students from a range of potential growth markets, with particular focus on direct recruitment markets and the context set by UK government’s graduate route.
Â
Reporting to a Regional Manager, the International Officer plays a key role in developing and implementing recruitment strategies to grow student enrolments from specified markets. International recruitment staff work closely with colleagues in other areas of the directorate, in particular with colleagues in admissions, marketing, communications, and domestic recruitment functions, as well as other University stakeholders within academic schools and university services. Priority relationships will however be external, in managing relationships with key stakeholders overseas.
Â
The role requires a decisive and proactive individual, promoting the world class student experience on offer to students in Scotland at Abertay. You will be an integral member of a team that is empowered to think creatively to communicate the University’s value proposition in overseas markets. You’ll enjoy a varied and competing workload, a flexible working environment, and a team committed to investing in you, your ambitions, and career development.
