Abertay University is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialist Laboratory Technician to join the Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business.
This is an exciting opportunity to support one of the UK's leading centres for games, cybersecurity and applied computing education. The Faculty is home to internationally recognised programmes in Computer Games Technology and Ethical Hacking and plays a leading role in major initiatives including cyberQuarter and CoSTAR.
Working closely with academic staff, students and colleagues across Information Services, you will provide specialist technical support for the Faculty's networking and computing infrastructure, ensuring that our teaching, research and innovation environments remain reliable, secure and responsive to changing needs. The role includes support for games and cybersecurity laboratories, Windows and Linux environments, immersive and games technologies, and associated technical facilities.
You will contribute to the development and maintenance of specialist laboratory facilities, support practical teaching and project activity, work collaboratively on technical projects, and help deliver an outstanding student experience. The role also includes managing specialist equipment and supporting the Faculty's wider research, public engagement and showcase activities.
Applicants should be educated to degree level or possess equivalent professional experience and have hands-on experience in networking, network security, games technologies or a closely related technical area. Experience of supporting Windows and Linux environments, configuring and maintaining networks, and working with specialist technical infrastructure is essential. Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft or Cisco qualifications would be advantageous.
