The Careers Service supports and inspires our students to realise their career goals by developing their career management skills, preparing them for the world of work. The Careers Service offers a range of employability-related activities, including work placements and skills-based careers programmes such as Abertay Skills Award, Career Mentoring Scheme, and our Graduate Success Award.

The University now seeks to appoint a qualified Careers Adviser to work 21 hours per week over 52 weeks or 27.3 hours per week across 40 weeks of the academic year. Reporting to the Careers Service Manager, you will provide careers information, advice, and guidance to students, which will include one-to-one guidance interviews, delivery of group work and presentations, and delivery of skills-based programmes such as our Career Mentoring Scheme and Graduate Success Award.

The role requires an excellent communicator with the ability to motivate and build rapport with a range of people. An organised and flexible approach will be required to manage a busy caseload, with an ability to work on your own initiative as well as being a team player. To support our students, it will be important to have an empathetic and non-judgemental approach to your work.
