Job Description
Campus Safety Assistants (Part Time)
Part time, 12 hours per week
Grade 3 (£21,848 – £23,114 pro rata increasing to £22,148 – £23,414 pro rata from March 2025), plus an unsocial hours premium
Reporting to the Estates and Facilities Manager, you will provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff, students, visitors, and contractors. You will be a visible and reassuring presence on campus and represent the University. Your duties will include operating CCTV and door access systems, undertaking first aid duties as needed, your job will be to carry out the administrative functions inputting incident reports, first aid reports and lost property management, you will also carry out regular patrols of both the campus interior and exterior.
Part Time Campus Safety Assistants and scheduled to work 1 x 12-hour shift per 6 days with opportunities to work additional hours as agreed with the Estates and Facilities Manager covering absence. Shifts are generally 12-hour shifts on either, Day Shift (06:00 to 18:00) Mid Shift (10:00 to 22:00) or Night Shift (18:00 to 06:00) Part Time Campus Safety Assistants cover the absence of colleagues.
The role requires a friendly and approachable individual who is a strong communicator, with attention to detail, empathy, and understanding. You must be able to remain calm under pressure, adapt to changing environments, mediate difficult situations, and be punctual and a team player.
