The post holder will support the Practice Manager in the management and coordination of all aspects of practice finances, processing and troubleshooting various accounts and transactions, optimising efficiency and financial performance. The ideal candidate has previous knowledge of accountancy systems, a strong awareness of Excel, excellent numeracy and IT skills. To be successful as a Finance Officer, you should have strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, good organisation skills, and working knowledge of accounting software. They should also have integrity, excellent mathematical skills, and an understanding of data privacy standards. You will be expected to support the Practice Manager in your day-to-day role.

Main duties of the job:

  • Oversee the payroll, invoicing and accounts payable process.
  • Production of monthly management accounts.
  • Cash management.
  • Ordering and purchasing of required items and obtaining quotes.
  • Reimbursement claims.
  • General administration support.
  • Attending practice meetings and taking minutes.
  • Liaising with other Departments to ensure good working practices throughout the finance function.
  • Reporting and resolution of ad hoc queries.

Large MDT comprising of 5 partner practices, 2 salaried Drs, 4 part-time PNs, Cluster Pharmacist, Cluster Paramedic with additional support from the Mental Health team and the Community Outreach Mental Health Homeless Nurse. Job responsibilities:

  • Maintaining regular consistent attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.
  • To attend all statutory and mandatory training courses and any courses specific to this role.
  • To be available for staff meetings and meetings with management.
  • To have a good understanding and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
  • Attend performance and development reviews with the Practice Manager.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent level.
  • AAT part qualified or working towards qualification.

Experience:

  • Previous experience of working within a finance role.
  • Basic accounting principles.
  • Experience of running monthly payroll.
  • NHS finance experience.
  • Experience with NHS Pension scheme.
  • Year-end payroll requirements.
