We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Practice Manager to support the effective running of our GP practice. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of client care, and supporting the practice team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with supervisory experience and a strong background in management, financial oversight, and human resources within a Primary Care or similar healthcare environment. The Deputy Practice Manager will play a key role in maintaining smooth practice operations and fostering a positive working atmosphere.
Main duties of the job Responsibilities
- Assist the Practice Manager in overseeing daily practice operations to ensure efficiency and high standards of service.
- Supervise and support the practice team, including nurses, reception staff, and administrative personnel.
- Contribute to financial management tasks such as budgeting, invoicing, and monitoring expenses.
- Support human resources functions, including recruitment, staff training, performance reviews, and producing contracts.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the practice.
- Assist with patient queries and resolving any patient concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and liaising with suppliers as needed.
- Participate in strategic planning to improve practice services and operational efficiency.

Abertawe Medical Partnership is a busy GP practice serving over 7,000 patients in Swansea. We are proud to be contracted by the local health board to provide dedicated care for the homeless population and to work as part of the City Cluster, a network of seven partner practices delivering joined-up primary care across the area. Our team is friendly, supportive, and professional, with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff working collaboratively to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.
Job responsibilities
The Deputy Practice Manager will play a key leadership role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, with a primary focus on:

Qualifications
- Experience in a GP practice or primary care setting
- Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, reporting, and payroll oversight.
- Knowledge of NHS funding streams and primary care contracts
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
- Strong IT skills, clinical systems, MS Office, spreadsheets
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload
- ILM qualification or equivalent management training
- Experience with NHS Wales systems
- Understanding of QOF and enhanced services
