The Buchan House-based Learning Disabilities North (Buchan) Team is recruiting a Social Worker – Adult Care (Learning Disabilities) on a 29-hour, fixed-term (12 months) contract to provide maternity leave cover, expected to commence late September 2026 (indicative start 28/09/2026).

The post provides a full range of professional social work/care management to adults with learning disabilities, including:

  • Self-directed Support assessments
  • Support planning to meet eligible outcomes
  • Risk assessment and review
  • Commissioning/provision and monitoring of services
  • Budget management
  • Multi-disciplinary working

Additionally, the role includes Adult Support and Protection duties (Council Officer) and contributing to the team’s responsibility to investigate Adult Support and Protection concerns and supervise Welfare Guardians, requiring SSSC registration and willingness to complete Adult Support and Protection training up to level 4.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory. This post will require you to have obtained SSSC registration within 3 months of employment. This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of these must be your current or most recent employer.
