Job Description
We are looking for enthusiastic teachers who will be responsible for the leadership, good management, and strategic direction of the school, conducting its affairs to benefit the pupils and community it serves. The role includes leading and managing whole school policy, its implementation, and evaluation, as well as managing and developing the school curriculum, learning, and teaching provisions to promote improved educational outcomes.
The post holder must demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organization.
Holding the Standard for Headship became a prerequisite for teachers taking up their first permanent headteacher post at Local Authority and grant-aided schools in Scotland from 1 August 2020, under Section 28 of the Education (Scotland) Act 2016.
There are two exemptions: the first applies to any permanent headteacher appointed to a school on or before 1 August 2020; the second allows education authorities or managers of grant-aided schools to appoint a person who has not attained the Standard for Headship on a temporary basis for up to 23 months after 1 August 2020.

Requirements
This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will need to join or update their PVG Scheme membership. If you have spent over 3 months outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check is required. The appointment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
Salary will align with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or be eligible for full registration with GTC Scotland. For those qualified outside Scotland, please review the GTCS FAQs about registration.
The grade for this position may change annually, in line with the SNCT Handbook, effective from 1 August each year.
This position requires at least one reference, preferably from your current or most recent employer.
