Provide a technical support service to the school, as part of the school support team, using the available resources in the most efficient and productive manner, whilst ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times. We are seeking a team player with a positive work ethic to work part time joining a small team in a secondary school environment. Good communication and timekeeping are essential to support the demands of a busy environment. This is a very varied and practical role. The team support the whole school in the preparation of teaching resources. This includes basic food preparation and food handling in Home Economics, processing of metal and wood in Design & Technology and basic IT troubleshooting and AV set up. There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organization.
Requirements:
- No previous knowledge is required as training will be provided.
Areas of work include:
- Reprographics: Processing print requests – online and paper requests, stock control and ordering, administration and filing, basic maintenance of printers.
- Home Economics: Food handling and basic food preparation, processing laundry, stock control and ordering ingredients.
- AV & IT: Set up laptop and connect projection/sound devices, inventory and checks, maintain and update the school website, assist with basic IT faults and issues.
- Design & Technology: Metal and wood material preparation, maintain and prepare classroom tools, safety inspections.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory. This post has a minimum requirement of one reference, which must be your current or most recent employer.
