The Developed Market Credit team sits within our global Fixed Income platform, a high-performing and collaborative environment managing over £130bn in assets across a diverse range of strategies. The team delivers both traditional and innovative ESG-focused solutions across investment grade and high yield credit, supporting institutional and retail clients worldwide. With a strong focus on teamwork rather than individual ownership, you will work closely with experienced colleagues across geographies to drive consistent performance and innovation.

As an Investment Director – Portfolio Manager, you will play a key role in managing Euro and Global Investment Grade Credit portfolios and potentially covering specific sectors within the European credit universe, contributing to both performance and innovation within a well-established team. This is a senior opportunity within a globally recognised investment platform, offering scope to shape portfolios, influence strategy and further develop your expertise in credit markets. You will combine top-down thematic views with bottom-up research to deliver strong client outcomes while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive culture. The role is based in London or Edinburgh with a blended working pattern and offers long-term career progression in a growth area of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Euro and Global Investment Grade Credit portfolios, delivering strong risk-adjusted returns.
  • Construct portfolios using macroeconomic insights alongside fundamental credit analysis.
  • Actively manage duration, yield curve positioning, sector allocation and issuer exposure.
  • Ensure portfolios operate within mandate guidelines, risk limits and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify relative value opportunities across markets, sectors and instruments.
  • Communicate portfolio performance, positioning and investment views to clients and stakeholders.

About the Candidate

  • Strong experience in fixed income markets, particularly investment grade credit.
  • Proven experience in portfolio management or credit research with a focus on generating alpha.
  • Deep understanding of credit spreads, duration, curves and valuation frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of fundamental credit and equity analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate alpha across the cycle and to operate effectively under market stress.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
