We are committed to providing excellent client service, supported by leading technology and talent.
Aberdeen comprises three businesses, interactive investor (ii), Investments, and Adviser, each of which focuses on meeting and adapting to our clients’ evolving needs: interactive investor, the UK’s second largest direct-to-consumer investment platform, enables individuals in the UK to plan, save, and invest in the way that works for them. Our Adviser business provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to create value for their customers. Our Investments business is a specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classes.
We are seeking an experienced Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) professional to join our Monitoring, Testing & Oversight (MTO) function. This role is central to supporting the AFC MTO Lead in delivering a robust Anti-Financial Crime assurance programme, ensuring the organisation maintains effective AFC controls, meets regulatory expectations, and safeguards its reputation.
As the AFC MTO Manager, you will contribute to the design, execution, and enhancement of a comprehensive monitoring and testing framework covering key AFC processes and controls across Aberdeen’s global operations. You will lead thematic and control reviews, assess the effectiveness of AFC systems and controls, and produce high‑quality, data‑driven reports to support senior management and Board-level oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the AFC MTO Lead in delivering a robust AFC MTO programme across the Aberdeen Group.
- Execute a structured AFC monitoring and testing plan to assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practice.
- Conduct regular reviews of AFC processes and controls, identifying gaps, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.
- Oversee AFC activities performed by business units and outsourced partners, assessing control design and operational effectiveness.
- Identify, document, and escalate issues or deficiencies, ensuring clear remediation plans and timely follow‑up.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Experience conducting AFC, compliance, audit, or operational assurance reviews within the financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of financial crime risks and controls (AML, sanctions, fraud, ABC, etc.).
- Proven experience in control testing, sampling methodologies, and assessing the design and effectiveness of controls.
- ICA Diploma (or equivalent AFC/AML qualification) strongly preferred but not essential.
