About The Department
The Digital Workplace Engineering team is a key capability within the Digital Workplace Services function. The team works collaboratively across the Group COO, business stakeholders, CoEs & Product Owners. It is responsible for the creation and delivery of our Digital Workplace technology roadmap, maintaining a modern, secure and cost-efficient service. We are passionate about enhancing colleague experience and delivering an evergreen service to our business.
About The Role
The Digital Workplace Engineer will work within a cross-functional team and will be responsible for continuously improving our Digital Workplace Technology, with a specific focus on End User Compute. This is a hands-on technical role that requires experience in design and administration of Intune, Entra, Windows Desktop and core infrastructure services.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and administer changes across Aberdeen’s EUC / Desktop estate.
- Ensure stability and security of the EUC Global Desktop environment through effective assurance and assessment of our Windows desktop, Microsoft M365 tenant and other 3rd party software.
- Collaborate with operational teams to proactively drive service improvement.
- Drive the adoption of Microsoft services, reviewing usage and DEX telemetry.
- Implementation of core controls/activities that enables CIS and Secure Scores to be enhanced and maintained.
- Focus on FinOps; creating visibility around EUS costs and highlighting where savings could be generated and putting in appropriate controls to help manage departmental budgets and produce reports for show back/charge back models.
- Contribute to the delivery of the EUC roadmap and the associated backlog.
- Responding to internal and external audits in relation to regulatory requirements and being able to help manage the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) controls.
- Actively participate in resolving high-priority outages, troubleshooting efforts and capacity/availability planning sessions, when required.
- Create, publish and communicate knowledgebase articles. Monitor technology trends and seek ways to enhance continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implementing and maturing core controls/activities that enable Windows OS & M365 evergreen changes, aligning to Aberdeen’s EUS risk control framework and regulatory requirements.
- Focus on desktop security measures, reducing the attack surface, improving security posture and implementing desktop hardening techniques (e.g. CIS).
About The Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Significant experience managing or supporting IT systems and platforms.
- Implementation digital employee experience (DEX), endpoint management, analytics and automation tools.
- Able to work as part of a team and with multiple key stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
- Proficient in operating within an ITIL environment.
- Skilled in applying continuous engineering and agile methodologies to manage frequent changes and reduce complexity.
- Adept at leveraging automation and AI/ML to drive continuous improvement.
Technical Skills
The candidate is expected to have a proven track record in the use of EUC and Windows Desktop technologies. Recent experience and certifications of some/all of these technical skills are required.
- Intune, SCCM, Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy for endpoint management.
- Experience deploying evergreen change for OS and M365.
- Experience deploying Autopilot at scale.
- Endpoint management and Security tooling with a focus on Microsoft Defender (including AV, EDR, ASR).
- Application provisioning/management via Intune, SCCM & Azure experience with App Attach also preferable.
- Experience implementing and managing Azure Virtual Desktop beneficial, including working knowledge of Nerdio.
- Experience implementing zero trust initiatives.
- Proficient working with PowerShell.
- Experience creating scripted remediations for device and desktop performance related issues.
- Desktop and application virtualization.
