The Security and Resilience Control Centre (SaRCC) operates around the clock, with a Controller and Operator working together on every shift to manage Aberdeen’s physical security, technical surveillance systems and incident escalation processes. The Controller leads operational activity on shift, ensuring strong coordination, oversight and communication across the estate. The team operates in close partnership with the SaRCC Specialist and plays a critical role in crisis response and business continuity.

The Senior Security Control Room Operator leads the operational delivery of the SaRCC, acting as the first point of command for incidents, directing the Operator, and ensuring that all calls, alarms and events are managed effectively. You will work 12‑hour shifts on a four‑days‑on, four‑days‑off, four‑nights‑on pattern and be responsible for shift performance, task prioritisation and maintaining system integrity. The role includes mentoring and training Operators, ensuring high standards of reporting, and supporting decision‑making in the absence of the SaRCC Specialist. Enhanced rate overtime opportunities are available.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Operator on shift, ensuring effective task allocation, information flow and operational continuity.
  • Act as first line of command during incidents, ensuring appropriate escalation and coordination across the estate.
  • Manage alarms, calls and system events, ensuring timely prioritisation and response.
  • Monitor and operate CCTV, access control, intruder detection and building management systems.
  • Support the training, coaching and development of Operators and security staff.

About the Candidate: Experience in a security control room or similar operational environment and are confident directing others in fast‑moving situations. Strong corporate experience, sound judgment and effective decision‑making are essential. Strong leadership qualities and can mentor less experienced colleagues while maintaining calm and professionalism under pressure. Highly reliable, comfortable using Microsoft tools and capable of interpreting information from multiple systems to maintain situational awareness. A background in corporate security, police or military roles is advantageous, and evidence of commitment to learning or professional development is welcomed.
