As part of the Data Privacy Office, you will support Aberdeen’s compliance with global privacy and data protection laws. Every day brings something different – from advising on DPIAs, helping with compliance assessments and maintaining evidence on the group privacy framework.
This role suits someone confident interpreting complex regulations, engaging with stakeholders at all levels, and supporting a culture where privacy is embedded in everyday decision making. You’ll provide practical and timely advice to business teams, helping them understand and meet privacy obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, pragmatic advice on privacy issues including DPIAs, personal data breaches, data subject rights and regulatory changes.
- Support the embedding and monitoring of Aberdeen’s Privacy & Data Protection Policy and Standards.
- Contribute to maintaining records of processing and supplementary evidence of compliance using the privacy management solution (DP Organizer - DataGuard).
- Interpret complex legislation and translate it into practical guidance for colleagues.
- Build strong relationships with privacy champions and business stakeholders and provide support on sensitive issues.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Experience in data protection / privacy within a regulated, or fast paced business environment.
- Strong working knowledge of UK/EU data protection laws and the ability to interpret regulatory guidance and apply it practically in a business context.
- A proactive mindset, comfortable balancing multiple priorities, which can often change.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, including engaging senior stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
