The Role
The Creative Assistant role is a one‑year development post supporting the complete programme of youth theatre workshops for the academic year 2026/2027.
Schedule
The contract runs from Tuesday 25th August 2026 to Saturday 19th June 2027.
Location
Workshops will take place in The Studio in His Majesty's Theatre and at other locations as required. Direct delivery of workshops will take place at a specified time and place, whereas the other responsibilities can be undertaken from home or another suitable location.
Reporting Arrangements
The main point of contact for the Creative Assistant will be Lynsay Wilson, Producer for Participation, who in turn reports to Susan Whyte, Head of Creative Engagement.
About You
- Be interested in the arts and the important role they play in supporting children to achieve their full potential.
- Have experience of participating in arts activities.
- Have a commitment to equality and inclusion.
- Be organised and reliable with effective communication skills.
- Be keen to learn new skills and open to training opportunities where appropriate.
- Be enthusiastic, motivated and willing to be part of a hard‑working team.
- Be willing to undertake a satisfactory PVG check.
- Hold a relevant first aid certificate or be willing to undertake first aid training.
- Be willing to attend compulsory child protection training.
- Encourage and motivate participants to reach their potential in a safe, enjoyable and inclusive environment.
- Understand, implement, and adhere to Aberdeen Performing Arts child protection policy, helping to ensure that all participants are safe whilst participating in the programme.
