The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and coordinate all engineering activities across our multiple sites. This is a senior leadership role that offers the opportunity to drive engineering excellence while contributing to our sustainability journey and strategic growth objectives.
The successful candidate will act as the key liaison between site engineering teams and senior management, ensuring seamless operations across all locations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, develop, and mentor Engineering Supervisors across all company sites
- Act as the primary point of contact for site engineering leads and engineering administrator
- Provide senior engineering leadership and support during critical incidents, including availability outside normal working hours when required
- Systems & Data Management
- Oversee and standardise the implementation of CMMS system across all sites
- Ensure accurate data input, reporting, and system optimisation
- Analyse CMMS data and engineering reports to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Strategic Project Management
- Support and oversee major projects including equipment installations, upgrades, and site improvements
- Participate in capital expenditure planning, budgeting, and long-term asset management strategies
- Liaise closely with the Head of Engineering to align operational activities with strategic business goals
- Operational Excellence
- Maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and engineering best practices across all locations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement engineering excellence standards
- Support the company's net zero strategy through sustainable engineering practices
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent professional experience in mechanical engineering
- Proven leadership experience in multi-site engineering management
- Strong expertise in CMMS systems and data-driven decision making
- Excellent project management experience with strategic thinking capabilities
- Clear, confident communication skills with ability to coordinate multiple teams and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with flexibility for both site-based and home-based work
- Hands-on mindset, capable of balancing operational support with senior management responsibilities
Desirable Experience:
- Background in industrial laundry, production, or process-based environments
- Experience with sustainability initiatives and environmental management systems
- Knowledge of maintenance optimisation and reliability engineering principles
Working Arrangements
Location & Travel: Based in Aberdeen or East Kilbride (within commutable distance) with regular travel across all four sites (East Kilbride, two Aberdeen locations, and Keith). The first three months will require on-site presence across all locations to ensure comprehensive understanding of operations and team dynamics.
Hours: Predominantly Monday to Friday, with weekend work as required by business needs. Flexibility for home working available, though regular site presence is essential.
