Our people put our stakeholders at the heart of everything they do by helping us to make a positive difference to the lives of our clients, customers, colleagues, shareholders, and society. We are focused on growing our direct and advised wealth platforms and repositioning our specialist asset management business to meet client demand. We are committed to providing excellent client service, supported by leading technology and talent.
Aberdeen comprises three businesses, interactive investor (ii), Investments, and Adviser, each of which focuses on meeting and adapting to our clients’ evolving needs:
- interactive investor, the UK’s second largest direct-to-consumer investment platform, enables individuals in the UK to plan, save, and invest in the way that works for them.
- Our Adviser business provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to create value for their customers.
- Our Investments business is a specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classes.
The Investment Risk Governance team sits within the Risk & Compliance function and plays a critical role in Aberdeen’s oversight framework. The team provides assurance that risks across public markets portfolios are well understood, appropriately managed and aligned to client outcomes. Working across asset classes and partnering with portfolio managers, product teams and governance bodies, the team helps enable our clients to be better investors by ensuring robust, transparent and forward-looking risk oversight.

Operating in the second line of defence, you will assess risk exposures, provide clear assurance to senior stakeholders, engage with portfolio managers and contribute to product development and model validation. This permanent role offers high visibility across the business, opportunities to work with senior forums and access to multiple asset class teams, supporting your development as you invest in your tomorrow through meaningful impact and technical depth.

- Engage with portfolio managers, product teams, governance bodies and clients to embed strong risk practices and provide clear insights.
- Support new product approval processes from a second-line investment risk perspective, including setting appropriate risk limits.
About the Candidate
- Significant investment risk experience, ideally in asset management with cross-asset exposure.
- Strong technical skills including Python, VBA, SQL and familiarity with risk modelling approaches.
- Ability to communicate complex risk concepts clearly and influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in first- or second-line functions, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Understanding of investment management and investment risk management based on practical experience.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA or FRM are desirable.
