At Aberdeen, our ambition is to be the UK’s leading Wealth & Investments group. Strengthening talent and culture is one of our strategic priorities. We strive to make Aberdeen a great place to work so that we can attract and retain the industry’s best talent. Our people put our stakeholders at the heart of everything they do by helping us to make a positive difference to the lives of our clients, customers, colleagues, shareholders, and society. We are focused on growing our direct and advised wealth platforms and repositioning our specialist asset management business to meet client demand. We are committed to providing excellent client service, supported by leading technology and talent.

Aberdeen comprises three businesses, interactive investor (ii), Investments, and Adviser, each of which focuses on meeting and adapting to our clients’ evolving needs:

  • interactive investor, the UK’s second largest direct-to-consumer investment platform, enables individuals in the UK to plan, save, and invest in the way that works for them.
  • Our Adviser business provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to create value for their customers.
  • Our Investments business is a specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classes.

About the Role

This is a role for a curious, motivated designer at the start of their career. You'll work alongside experienced designers and cross-functional teams — contributing to real product work from day one, while developing your skills across the full design process. You'll be supported to grow quickly. In return, we're looking for someone who takes ownership of their development, seeks feedback actively, and brings a genuine interest in how design creates value for customers and businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to discovery and user research sessions — participating in interviews, usability tests, and synthesis activities alongside more senior designers.
  • Apply design principles and visual identity guidelines to produce clear, usable outputs including user flows, wireframes, and interface designs.
  • Support customer journey mapping exercises, helping to identify gaps and inconsistencies in user experiences.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, helping to clarify requirements and understand how design decisions connect to user needs and business goals.
  • Begin to understand how insights inform product decisions — contributing to documentation and shared team understanding.
  • Take part in design critiques, workshops, and team discussions — sharing your perspective and iterating based on feedback from peers and stakeholders.
  • Learn to balance feasibility, usability, and value when contributing to solution design.

About the Candidate:

  • A design degree or equivalent — we’re open to candidates who are completing or have recently completed their studies.
  • A portfolio or body of work that shows how you think, not just what you’ve made. We want to understand your process.
  • Foundational skills in Figma or a similar design tool, with a willingness to develop these quickly on the job.
  • An understanding of accessibility principles and why they matter — you don’t need to have mastered them yet.
  • Someone who communicates clearly, asks good questions, and is comfortable working across teams.
  • Curious and self-directed — you seek feedback, reflect on your own growth, and take ownership of your development.
  • A collaborative team member who contributes to a positive, inclusive working environment.
