Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies
only
to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee\’s first FULL month\’s salary payment.

Job Purpose/about The Role
The post holder will be responsible for inspection, maintaining and repairs on vehicles, plant and equipment within Aberdeen City Council Fleet workshops and depots. To Carry out Fleet and public vehicle annual testing (MOT) and conduct Taxi hackney examinations. To have the ability to work on their own initiative and to communicate effectively with Management team and customers

Weekly rota shift pattern. Week 1: Monday-Thursday 6am – 2pm, Friday 6am-11:30am Week 2: Monday-Thursday 14:00pm – 22:00pm Friday 11:30am-17:00pm

The Post Holder Needs To Hold As a Minimum

  • City and Guilds – Motor Vehicle engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Preferably Hold a Mot examiner Certification or to be obtained within 12 months

The Postholder Is Able To Demonstrate

  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers
