Location: Mastrick Library
Duration: Permanent – 17.75 hrs per week
Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,285 per annum / £16.64 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee\’s first FULL month\’s salary payment.

Two week rota as follows:
Week 1
Monday 17:00-19:00
Wednesday-9:45-13:00
Thursday 9:45-12:00 13:00-17:00
Saturday 9:45-13:00, 14:00-17:00 (to cover any Library as required)
Week 2
Monday 9:45-13:00
Wednesday 17:00-19:00
Thursday 9:45-12:00 13:00-17:00
Saturday 9:45-13:00, 14:00-17:00
Please note there will be a requirement for the successful candidate to cover at any City Library as needed to meet the needs of the service.
Job Purpose
To work as part of a team responsible for the delivery of high quality front-line Library and Information Service to the public at any library service point.

4 National 5 passes at Grade A-C or equivalent, to include English and a Mathematics subject or equivalent
PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made
Agreement to work evenings and weekends on a shift pattern at various locations across the city.
Ability to carry out physical nature of duties; such as movement of books and other resources between and onto shelves and floor walking
Responsibilities
Ability to assist and support customers to use library services and facilities.
Ability to solve problems.
Confidence in cash handling and cash reconciliation.
Ability to organise promotional events and activities.
