Location: Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen

Duration: Permanent, Full Time 35 hours per week

Roles that require PVG Membership:

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

About the role:

  • The postholder will acquire all types of heritable property for the operational requirements of City Council services.
  • Dispose of all types of heritable property declared surplus by the City Council through sale, lease and licence.
  • Manage corporate projects, property projects and give property advice to Corporate Working Groups, particularly with regard to valuation and property management issues.
  • Understand the principles of good property Asset Management and the Council’s Property Asset Management Plan.
  • Be able to give strategic and specific property advice.

Requirements:

  • Educated to Degree level in a property related discipline.
  • A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) (General Practice).
  • Be a Registered valuer with the RICS or be capable of becoming a Registered Valuer.
  • Current Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience in the management of Commercial property.
  • Experience of managing rent reviews, lease renewals and new lettings.
  • Experience in the disposal and acquisition of heritable land and property.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Experience negotiator.
  • Understanding of the concept of Best Value.
  • Be able to motivate and manage a team of different professional and technical staff.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness.
