Job Purpose: To manage the preparation, cooking and serving of meals in a safe, hygienic, efficient manner providing a high standard of customer service. Providing feedback for service improvement to the Catering Manager / Catering Team Leader and Catering Advisor.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- An Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake and pass this course within 6 months.
- FSA - Food Standards Agency's food allergy online training and pass this course within 1 month.
- Full PVG (Disclosure Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups) certificate - this will be processed and received prior to any start date being confirmed.
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
- Proficient cooking skills in preparing large-scale meal production, ensuring consistently high-quality presentation.
- Awareness of risks within a kitchen environment.
- Ability to count cash and cheques.
- Effectively line manage staff, following organisational Policies and Procedures.
- Good written and numeracy skills.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Sound understanding of the English language to ensure health and safety standards are met.
- Good ICT skills pertaining to the functions of catering services.
- Ability to follow defined recipes provided by the service for the preparation of meals.
- High standard of hygiene awareness.
