We have an exciting opportunity at Aberdeen International Airport for a Security Advisor, to join our Security team. This is a permanent, full time role and will be based at Aberdeen Airport.

As a key member of the AIAL Security Department, the Security Advisor will be accountable for assisting to drive allocated aspects of the Security operation including:

  • Provide guidance for Third Parties to EU/UK Department for Transport and AGS Security Policies and guidelines when required.
  • Lead the Aberdeen International Airport Limited (AIAL) SeMS assurance programme.
  • Manage and maintain the Training Records of those who deliver the AIAL Security Programme and Security related functions.
  • Assess, monitor, and review the operational compliance standards of the Third-Party Security provider and Third-Party operators.
  • Ensure that appropriate business continuity plans and shared risk assessments which have an impact on the security functions are tested and regularly reviewed and that any lessons learnt are incorporated into improved procedures.
  • Deputise for or represent the Security Manager in meetings where there will be a requirement to provide security inputs.

Principle accountabilities:

  • Work as part of the Security Management Team to drive the SeMs culture across the wider airport campus with a focus on promotion of the principles within the AIAL Security Policy.
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of aviation security daily including the completion of monthly assurance audits across relevant chapters of the NASP.
  • Update and maintain management information systems to report on security KPI’s to provide accurate and current information for senior airport managers and Group.
  • Participate in the AIAL security assurance program led by the Security Manager.
  • Proactively support the Security Management team through participation in various projects and trials to constantly improve the delivery of the security product to our customers.
  • Work closely with the Health and Safety and Environmental Teams to drive Health and Safety and Environmental initiatives and performance.
  • Accountable for ensuring that the Airport Data Protection policies and associated documents are reviewed and aligned to current GDPR legislation.

Qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • Experience in conducting compliance monitoring activities, audits, inspections, and investigations, with the ability to identify non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong understanding of audit methodologies, evidence gathering, record management, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and prioritise activities to ensure compliance objectives are achieved.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with operational teams, auditors, regulators, and external agencies.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyse information, maintain accurate records, and produce clear audit and compliance reports.

Preferred:

  • GSO security officer experience
  • GSS security supervisor experience
  • Audit qualification
