A leading national employer is seeking an experienced Senior Specialist to join its inâhouse pensions function. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a highly influential role supporting a complex portfolio of pension schemes, including DB, DC Master Trust and LGPS arrangements.
You will act as the department's senior subjectâmatter expert, advising on technical queries, regulatory compliance, complex member cases and policy development, while supporting strategic projects and acting as a mentor to the wider team.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Acting as the internal Technical Subject Matter Expert across DB, DC and Public Sector schemes
- Investigating and resolving complex member cases, complaints and IDRPs
- Interpreting scheme rules, Trust Deeds and legislation and sharing findings with the team
- Managing calculations and queries including Annual Allowance, Lifetime Allowance and pension flexibility
- Providing guidance on LGPS administration, including illâhealth and flexible retirement
- Supporting regulatory projects including GMP and actuarial valuations
- Leading technical workstreams on scheme changes, mergers & strategic initiatives
- Producing technical guidance, training materials and mentoring junior colleagues
- Building strong relationships with Trustees, advisers, administrators and internal stakeholders
- Ensuring excellent customer service to members and delivering bestâpractice standards
What We're Looking For:
- Advanced pensions technical knowledge, particularly across DB, DC and LGPS
- Strong grasp of governance, legislation and regulatory requirements
- Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Confident in decisionâmaking, problemâsolving and explaining technical matters clearly
- Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with high professional standards
Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong pensions experience within a technical, governance or specialist advisory role
- PMI qualifications (e.g. RPC, QPA, PMI Trustee Certificate) are desirable but not essential
- Strong IT skills (Excel, Google Sheets; Workday/other systems beneficial)
