Join our team as a Communications Officer. This role will require you to work along the whole route (Stratford, Norwich, Colchester, Cambridge)
About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Communications Officer to join the high-performing Corporate Affairs team at Greater Anglia. The role will primarily be in internal communications but will also assist with external communications and campaigns. The successful candidate will have existing experience working in communications-related roles and is now ready to develop their skills.
As someone with strong writing skills and the ability to take a story and build creative comms around it, the role will involve producing and delivering high quality content, events and initiatives for GA colleagues, as well as assisting with public relations, media relations and social media activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Producing and delivering multi-channel content for Greater Anglia colleagues (magazine, video, photography, digital, print, weekly email newsletter).
- Effectively create and lead on delivering project communication plans, managing requests from managers and providing expert comms support.
- Write articles and features for the quarterly colleague magazine and other internal publications.
- Producing high quality public relations content (press releases, blogs, video) in line with the Media, PR and Communications strategy.
- Play an integral role within the development and execution of colleague, media and stakeholder events.
- Act as the intranet manager, conducting an audit of content and delivering training for users.
- Creating engaging social media content including filming and editing videos.
- Manage the image/ video library.
- Assist with improving communications across the business by engaging with leaders and frontline colleagues, including create tools for managers to communicate effectively with their teams.
- Create internal design assets including posters, leaflets and banners.
- Playing a key role, with all other Corporate Affairs colleagues, in the delivery of the out of hours press on call service (as part of a 24/7 weekly roster that is shared equally between the team).
We’re Looking For Candidates Who:
- Have a proven record of working in a communications-related role
- Have a keen interest and working understanding of different communication disciplines including internal communications, external communications, campaigning, and social media.
- Have demonstratable written, verbal, and storytelling skills with close attention to detail.
- Are proficient in tailoring content, reaching and driving positive engagement with target audiences both internally and externally.
- Highly capable with technology and working with multiple systems including Microsoft Office, especially SharePoint. It is preferable for the candidate to have skills in Adobe creative suite, particularly inDesign.
- Have the ability to manage time effectively and independently carry out a range of tasks to help plan, develop and implement communications activity.
- Have effectiveinterpersonal skills, with a friendly, approachable and positive attitude, team spirit, and ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Calm under pressure, adaptable, and solutions-oriented, with effective problem-solving skills and integrity in handling diverse situations.
