The Management Accountant will be responsible for month-end reconciliations and accounts payable management while ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role leads a team of 3 skilled Accounts Assistants and is responsible for their day-to-day management and longer-term coaching and development.
Here’s what you’ll be getting up to:
- Line manager of 3 Accounts Assistants focussed primarily on accounts payable
- Prepare and complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations ensuring any reconciling items are explained and resolved in a timely manner.
- Weekly and 4 weekly payroll journals plus updating of the Weekly Wage Tracker.
- Fixed asset acquisition, disposal and depreciation journals.
- Accruals and Prepayment journals and reconciliations (including stock purchases)
- Review and adjust general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with month-end close processes.
- Generate financial reports to support management decision-making.
- Monthly update of prompt payments report for submission to group
- ONS submissions (monthly RSI and quarterly capex)
- Update PSA data for submission to group
- Oversee supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
- Prepare aged creditors reports, AP KPIs and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function.
- Ensure Compliance with internal procedures and accounting standards
- Provide cover in the department as needed.
Here’s what we are looking for:
- Part or fully qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT) or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience in month-end reconciliation, and accounts payable.
- Excellent knowledge of financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
- Be a real team player with a willingness to help wherever required
- Adaptable, energetic and enthusiastic.
- Has the confidence to approach others to investigate and resolve queries.
- Has a flexible attitude and is able to respond well to changing priorities.
