The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for supporting the Commercial and Operations team in carrying out commercial tasks. The main purpose of the role is to ensure commercial and contractual control, and co-ordination of the efforts of all parties involved in the execution of the businesses project works.

Core Duties:

  • Ensure monthly applications are submitted on time to the client each period.
  • Ensure variation recovery is achieved through regular site meetings and negotiations with the Client.
  • Be responsible for the procurement process of subcontractors, and the raising of the associated subcontract agreements.
  • Be responsible for producing accurate monthly revenue forecast.
  • Be responsible for the production and management of project by project cashflow statements.
  • Report on the profitability of projects from inception through to completion.
  • Be responsible for reviewing the valuation of, and processing, subcontractor payment certificates.
  • Attend regular (monthly) project review meetings with the Project Managers / Contract Managers in each region to complete cost review documents and report variances to the Commercial Director.
  • Play a lead role in procuring materials at ‘best price’, and source new supply chain partners.
  • Provide periodic commercial review of incoming terms and conditions (from clients and suppliers).
  • Review client orders and produce order acknowledgement documentation.
  • Arrange and attend ‘Sales to Operations Handovers’ as necessary.
  • Be responsible for ensuring each project follows the full project lifecycle flow from inception through to completion.
  • Manage the recovery of retentions held by our customers.
  • Be accountable for the efficient planning of all ABEC employed and freelance operatives, across all contracting projects. This includes allocating individuals to roles.
  • Be accountable for preparing, maintaining and issuing reports illustrating resource requirements / works shortfall and performance against planned resources and budgets.
