Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Research & Drafting
    • Conduct research on Singapore statutes, subsidiary legislation, case law, and Syariah law principles.
    • Draft, review, and proofread legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, contracts, and correspondence.
    • Prepare case summaries, bundles of authorities, and submissions for review by supervising lawyers.
  • Case Management & Court Processes
    • Assist in preparation and filing of documents via eLitigation (State Courts, High Court, Family Justice Courts) and Syariah Court eServices/portal.
    • Manage case files (physical and electronic), ensuring compliance with procedural timelines, court directions, and Syariah Court requirements.
    • Compile evidence, organise discovery documents, and prepare bundles for mediation, hearings, and trials.
  • Client & Third-Party Liaison
    • Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information, affidavits, and supporting documents (under supervision of a lawyer).
    • Liaise with opposing counsel, government authorities, Syariah Court officers, and court staff.
    • Arrange meetings, mediations, and case conferences.
  • Administrative & Compliance Support
    • Maintain accurate records, billing entries, and time sheets in accordance with firm policies.
    • Ensure confidentiality of client data and compliance.
    • Provide support to lawyers during hearings, trials, and Syariah Court proceedings.

Key Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Law, Legal Studies, or equivalent (Diploma in Law & Management preferred).
  • Prior experience in a Singapore law firm with exposure to family law and Syariah Court procedures is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in eLitigation and Syariah Court eServices portal.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
