The Data Engineer will be responsible for ensuring data availability, reliability and security, through the administration of modern data warehousing solutions, as well as spearheading the design, build, and maintenance of robust data products and pipelines for AI. This position reports to the AI Sales Integration Manager and is part of the Data Science and AI Team at Abcam / Danaher and can either be onsite in Cambridge, UK, or remote. This role will initially be a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Build and optimize data products and pipelines from various sources, ensuring data availability, quality, and reliability. Administer and maintain databases (Snowflake, Redshift), ensuring optimal performance and reliability, with a focus on the design, implementation and management of data models, schemas and tables. Manage user access, roles, and permissions. Support data needs, governance and management, and ensure seamless integration with new and existing Data and AI systems. Collaborate across teams to drive AI innovation, while expanding your expertise within an experienced, inclusive, and international team. The essential requirements of the job include: BSc or MSc in a field related to Computer Science / STEM (or equivalent proven experience). Experience with Snowflake database administration. Experience designing data architecture, database networking, maintaining data security, and configuring user access and authentication protocols in a modern data warehouse. Proficiency in Python, git, SQL, AWS and Snowflake. Strong understanding of data engineering best practices, and experience with data pipelines, data structures, data platforms, data integration and data governance. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Experience building and managing AWS cloud infrastructure. Experience in feature engineering for data consumption by AI Applications.
