The Senior Scientist is responsible for contributing to Abcam’s Antibody Product Portfolio expansion by designing validation strategies to characterize new antibodies. This position reports to the Team Leader Immunocytochemistry and Flow Cytometry and is part of the Validation Team located in Cambridge and will be an on-site role.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To:
- Design the best strategy for the validation of new antibodies for critical research areas like cancer, immunology and infectious diseases.
- Establish and troubleshoot new processes, with a focus on standardization and continuous improvement.
- Maintain high quality standards within the lab; ensuring the lab is compliant with all external and internal quality standards, including ISO9001.
- Manage and mentor more junior colleagues, creating an engaging environment.
- Ensure project objectives are met in agreed timeline and proactively communicate progress to other stakeholders.
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include:
- PhD in Immunology, Immuno-Oncology or Infectious Disease or equivalent years of experience in industry setting (typically 5 years) +7 years experience between academia and industry.
- Strong Flow Cytometry background and practical expertise in multicolor immunophenotyping experiments (extra and intracellular markers human and murine).
- Extensive experience in establishing new assays and protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask and work to deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate open and constructive communication within the team along with other teams within the company across the globe.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- People management.
- Previously worked to ISO9001 quality standards.
