The Laboratory Support Technician is responsible for routine collection and sterilization of labware, equipment inventory maintenance, handling of biohazard and sharps waste per EHS policies and preparation of commonly used buffers for laboratory staff. This position reports to the Laboratory Support Manager and is part of the Laboratory Support Team within the Workplace Department located in Cambridge, UK. This is a full-time on site position as the majority of work is done inside the lab spaces.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To:
- Develop laboratory bench skills via buffer and media preparation
- Learn glasswasher and autoclave operation
- Maintain operational readiness of laboratory spaces across the facility, including consolidation of all laboratory waste streams in compliance with site safety policies
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include:
- A-Levels in 1 or more STEM subject or equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to learn, understand, and uphold Environmental Health & Safety policies
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Routine handling of items up to 20 kg, with appropriate equipment provided
- Role involves periods of standing while carrying out laboratory tasks; reasonable adjustments available
Experience That Would Be A Plus:
- Experience working in a laboratory
- Organization of inventory, data, and information to streamline processes
- Autoclave sterilization and working with ISO 9001 in a laboratory setting
