The Internal Control Manager is responsible for ensuring our internal controls are appropriately designed to mitigate our key financial or operational risks, comply with key legislative requirements and internal policies/processes, thereby providing reasonable assurance to senior leadership that our internal controls framework is robust, and that our financial reporting and operational processes can be relied on. You will work closely with key stakeholders and contribute to the long term strategy of our internal controls framework. This position reports to the Head of Internal Controls and is part of the Finance team located in our Cambridge office and will be an on-site role.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To:
- Assess the design and operating effectiveness of our internal controls, delivering to set deadlines, and prioritising our annual Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program.
- Support key stakeholders in addressing identified control deficiencies to ensure key risks are mitigated, controls are adequately designed, and remediation actions are tracked to completion.
- Support the development and maintenance of key documentation that underpin our key risks and internal controls such as process maps, process narratives, policies, procedures, and Risk and Controls Matrices (RACMs).
- Shape our internal controls journey by promoting continuous improvement to our internal controls framework, as well as supporting the implementation of our Internal Controls Self-Assessment (CSAT) and Segregation of Duties (SOD) monitoring processes leveraging GRC tooling.
- Participate in reporting to our key stakeholders on control testing and remediation status, facilitate training and undertake ad hoc project work, as required.
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include:
- Professionally qualified (e.g. ACA, ACCA or IIA) with a “Big 4” practice background, with post qualification experience, ideally gained within a global commercial business in a second or third line of defense role.
- Understanding of internal controls framework (e.g. COSO, SOX, J-SOX), with a proven track record of undertaking risk, internal controls and SOX compliance assessments, recommending remediation actions and supporting key stakeholders to successful completion.
- Experience in drafting end-to-end process maps (e.g. OTC, R2R, P2P, Inventory) documenting process narratives, policies and procedures, as well as RACMs.
- Knowledge of Oracle Fusion and US GAAP desirable.
- Experience of leading on CSAT or monitoring SOD conflicts using GRC tooling, and understanding of ITGCs, application controls and IT SOX controls beneficial.
