The Group Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of our financial results. The team are responsible for the Group’s financial reporting, the coordination and running of the month and quarter end timetables for submission of results to the parent company, the monthly consolidation of results, certain areas of accounting that are centralized for the group, namely leases, and providing the technical expertise to the wider finance team.
This position reports to the Finance Manager – Group Finance and is part of the Finance team located in Cambridge and will be an on-site role. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, in a growing global business that operates under a SOX environment and is transitioning to reporting under a multi-GAAP framework (US GAAP and IFRS), in multi currencies. Working with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, in a number of different countries, this is a dynamic role and an opportunity for a finance professional to make an immediate impact. The role is part of a 3-4 person team and is suited for a newly qualified accountant who is looking to make their first move into industry.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
- Perform key activities relating to the month-end consolidation and close, and be responsible for the accuracy of key balance sheet items across the group by working with the wider finance team to drive the month-end process and ensure tasks are completed to a high quality and on time;
- Prepare monthly files for journal postings and submission of journals for internal approval, ensuring supporting files are SOX compliant
- Prepare the submission of monthly and quarterly reporting packages to the parent company;
- Produce financial reporting disclosures for subsidiary financial statements;
- Prepare for external audits and internal reviews by working closely with our auditors and ensuring that deliverables are prepared accurately and within set deadlines;
- Be responsible for the preparation of key controls; ensuring that these are operating effectively; and
- Have close interactions with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including entity finance teams, Finance Business Partners, Tax and Treasury, and internal and external audit.
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
- Having a professional qualification (ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent) and experience working within or auditing large, listed multinational businesses, with strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of IFRS;
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks for multiple stakeholders set to deadlines
- Self-starter and intellectually curious, with a capacity to work in a high growth, fast-paced environment whilst being a team player;
- Strong excel skills including the ability to reconcile and summarise large volumes of data
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in
- Experience of Oracle and consolidation systems (HFM / FCCS)
- Experience of US GAAP accounting and standards
