ABC Teachers is recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to work 1:1, full-time with secondary-aged students in a Specialist SEMH school. This is not a classroom assistant role — this is a frontline, relationship-based position where consistency, presence, and mental toughness matter.
About the role
- 1:1 Behaviour Emotional Support: Working intensively with one student to support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement with learning.
- De-escalation Emotional Coaching: Helping students manage anger, frustration, and anxiety using calm authority and clear boundaries.
- Behaviour Tracking Pattern Recognition: Identifying triggers, flashpoints, and warning signs to reduce incidents and improve outcomes.
- Consistency Presence: Being the reliable, grounded adult who shows up every day — no rotation, no distractions.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Behaviour Mentor in SEMH School you will:
- Have significant experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- Be able to work full-time, 1:1 only
- Demonstrate resilience, emotional strength, and consistency
- Show a genuine commitment to helping young people turn things around
- Hold a DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and suitable references
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: 2 years experience in a relevant role such as youth outreach, social work, mentoring, crime or violence prevention, or mental health support.
