ABC Teachers are seeking a skilled and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work within an SEN school in Birmingham, part of the Think Differently Education Trust.
About the role:
- Provide calm, consistent support to pupils with autism and other complex needs, helping to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
- Build trusting, professional relationships with students to understand their individual needs and tailor your support accordingly.
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver structured, engaging lessons, offering targeted support in small groups or 1:1 settings as required.
- Model respectful, inclusive behaviour and contribute to a classroom culture where every student feels valued, heard, and respected.
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience—empowering them to re-engage with learning at a pace that’s right for them.

Requirements:
- Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
- Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
- Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.
- Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are at least two years of experience supporting students with special educational needs.
