To act as team leader and assist with the management of the Food Section, organising and supervising specialist professional officers in discharging the City Council’s statutory functions in relation to food safety and infectious disease control.
To safeguard the health, safety and welfare of persons living, working or visiting the city, by ensuring the sale of safe and wholesome food through the inspection of commercial, manufacturing and catering premises and processes; including those requiring EU approval and those catering for vulnerable people; the investigation of complaints; inspection of food; sampling of food; the issuing of enforcement notices; the prosecution of offenders and the provision of technical advice.
To provide a high level of knowledge and expertise in the areas of specialisation, especially in most complex enforcement and allied functions, and assist in the management of highly interactive client focused services.
