The Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the entire procurement process, from strategic sourcing to contracting, ensuring detailed execution aligned with category strategic vision. This role focuses on overseeing supplier selection and management, maintaining compliance with procurement policies, and executing tactical processes for supplier diversity and sustainability.
Responsibilities include:
- Sourcing, bidding, negotiating, contracting, and purchasing goods and services in alignment with agreed category and business strategies.
- Executing the competitive bidding process in accordance with the Organization’s Purchasing Policy.
- Developing and maintaining a supply base that ensures the best value for quality, delivery, pricing, service, etc.
- Overseeing all new vendor requests, in alignment with preferred supplier networks and relevant category strategy.
- Supporting and implementing preferred supplier network for certain spend categories and helping drive spend to these suppliers.
- Maintaining compliance with procurement policy and fulfilling business requirements of supplier diversity and sustainability.
- Proactive management of local preferred suppliers including anticipation, resolution, and communication.
- Driving supplier management and ensuring alignment to SRM strategy as determined by Procurement Lead and Category Managers.
- Maintaining excellence in all contract execution activities including source to contract and requisition to pay.
- Administering continuous improvement projects initiated by the PSC team.
- Leading and nurturing a team of Specialists, setting ambitious performance targets, providing tailored coaching, and evaluating team performance.
- Partnering with business partners to define skillsets, workforce requirements, capability needs, and long-term organizational staffing goals.
Qualifications include:
- Specific and tactical expertise in implementing procurement processes, including source-to-contract planning and cost assessment.
- Strong experience in the respective category area, with familiarity tailoring processes to meet category needs.
- Ability to manage the bidding and negotiation processes, with adept ability to implement complex long-term projects.
- Strong capacity and experience managing collaborative supplier relationships.
- Innovative problem-solving skills combined with a solution-oriented mindset.
- High cross-functional collaboration abilities and teamwork skills.
- Strong soft skills and emotional intelligence.
- Impactful executive functioning abilities and autonomous work ethic.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or related business or operations function.
- Previous experience managing teams and comprehensive understanding of procurement operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
