Job Description

As the Patient Relations Manager you will provide coordination and operational support for AbbVie UK’s patient advocacy activity across therapy areas, enabling the Government Affairs & Patient Advocacy team to manage and Patient Advocacy Group (PAG), and Patient engagement in a consistent, professional and well-documented way. Key activities such as coordinating PAG meetings and patient engagements, preparing clear briefing materials, maintaining accurate records of interactions and commitments, and helping ensure activity is delivered to the right standard, on time and through appropriate governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • PAG engagement coordination: Coordinate PAG meetings and patient engagements on behalf of the Government Affairs & Patient Advocacy team, managing logistics, invitations, agendas, meeting materials and follow-up actions so that every interaction is well organised and clearly documented.
  • Briefing and meeting preparation: Draft and compile briefing documents, meeting packs and strategy one-pagers under the direction of Senior Government Affairs & Patient Advocacy Managers, ensuring materials are clear, accurate, audience-appropriate and delivered to deadline.
  • Documentation, tracking and transparency support: Maintain accurate records of PAG interactions, including documentation needed for governance, compliance and transparency reporting. Support the maintenance of PAG mapping, contact information, commitments and action logs across therapy areas, prompting timely follow-through where needed.
  • Project support and cross-functional coordination: Provide general project coordination and administrative support for patient advocacy activity, helping the team manage priorities, deadlines and dependencies. Liaise with Communications colleagues and other internal stakeholders where PAG engagement requires input from different functions.
  • Stakeholder support and relationship enablement: Support Senior Government Affairs & Patient Advocacy Managers by preparing the team for PAG interactions, connecting the right internal colleagues at the right time and helping maintain a current picture of AbbVie UK’s relationships, interactions and outstanding commitments.
  • Governance and compliant delivery: Ensure patient advocacy activity is carried out in line with AbbVie policies, required documentation standards and the ABPI Code of Practice, recognising risk, seeking appropriate input and escalating issues early.

Qualifications

  • Capabilities: Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and dependencies. Clear and accurate written communication, including the ability to draft briefing materials, meeting notes and action trackers. Proactive, dependable and collaborative working style, with confidence to follow up and keep activity moving. Sound judgement and discretion when supporting engagement with external organisations in a regulated environment.
  • Experiences: Relevant experience in a coordination, administrative, project support, junior communications, public affairs, policy, healthcare, charity or related role. Experience organising meetings, managing logistics and producing clear written materials to deadline. Experience working with internal stakeholders to coordinate projects, track actions and support delivery across multiple workstreams. Experience handling information accurately and maintaining records, trackers or documentation in a structured way.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in public affairs, communications, policy, healthcare, life sciences, administration, project coordination or a related discipline.
