To support ongoing demand, our UK & Ireland team responsible for all commercial and corporate roles are looking to recruit an additional experienced commercial recruiter on a temporary basis of up to 6 months, to be based in our UK HQ in Maidenhead. As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will partner closely with hiring teams and Business HR, supporting recruitment activities across various UK sites, driving full‑cycle recruiting efforts from intake session through to offer negotiation and hire.

Responsibilities

  • Full cycle recruiting, from the requirement definition through to offer negotiation and hiring, using Abbott's ATS and CRM.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that leverage cost‑effective recruiting channels such as the Abbott careers page, job boards, social media posts, applicant tracking system data sources, referral programs, and virtual job fairs.
  • Ensure structured/competency‑based interview processes are followed for each hiring requirement.
  • Maintain the ATS (Workday) and provide reporting as required.
  • Provide strategic market data and market research.
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders, including first‑line hiring managers, Business HR, TA colleagues, HR practice centres, and HR service centres.

Critical Capabilities

  • Support the operational hiring strategy and drive tangible recruiting results through established actions.
  • Act as a trusted talent advisor, building credibility with hiring managers, candidates, and the wider Talent Acquisition team, and develop deep knowledge of the labour marketplace, Abbott's business, and job functions.
  • Actively influence candidates to join Abbott.
  • Take accountability for the hiring plan, timeline, and deliverables, making informed decisions throughout the recruiting process.
  • Support and embrace application or process change initiatives.
  • Demonstrate reporting and presentation skills using Abbott systems and the MS suite.
  • Attend TA training and proactively seek support and learn new skills from senior TA team members.
  • Support in‑country and in‑division TA projects.
  • Exhibit endurance and resilience by problem‑solving through setbacks and adapting to changes in direction.
  • Possess a university degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Proven commercial recruiting experience, ideally a combination of agency and in‑house, with a strong drive for direct sourcing via tools and networks.
  • Experience delivering meaningful candidate slates to hiring managers while operating in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Interview and assessment skills to evaluate candidate business capabilities, technical background, and key behaviours.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build professional relations across all levels of the business, including senior leaders and HR.
  • Strong work ethic, motivated to deliver best‑in‑class recruitment and ensure candidate and hiring manager satisfaction, and able to work autonomously.
  • Professional, accountable, and collaborative team player.
