We are seeking a proactive and analytically minded Tax Accountant to join our in-house tax team in Sittingbourne. This is a broad and hands-on role that supports the Tax Manager across UK Corporate Tax, VAT and transfer pricing activities, while working closely with general accounting and finance teams. This position is ideal for a newly qualified or recently qualified accountant or tax professional (or qualification pending) looking to make their first move from practice into industry, or an early-career in-house professional seeking wider exposure. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, improving processes, and supporting commercially sound decision-making across the business. Key Responsibilities
- Corporate Tax
- Prepare, review and submit UK corporation tax computations and returns for assigned entities.
- Prepare tax provisions, deferred tax calculations and associated disclosures for statutory accounts.
- Support and manage HMRC enquiries, including analysis, drafting responses and coordination of information.
- Assist with additional corporate tax requirements such as uncertain tax positions and emerging regulations.
- VAT & Indirect Tax
- Support VAT compliance activities, including VAT returns, audits and HMRC interaction.
- Provide VAT guidance on transactions, routes to market and new business activities.
- Identify VAT risks and opportunities, escalating matters as appropriate.
- Advisory, Risk & Projects
- Provide tax input on transactions, restructurings, integrations and operational changes.
- Proactively identify tax risks and opportunities by developing a strong understanding of the business.
- Support internal and external audits and tax-related projects.
- Reporting, Controls & Process Improvement
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of tax data in line with internal controls and deadlines.
- Coordinate with financial accounting teams on tax balances and disclosures.
- Support transfer pricing documentation and internal tax reporting (e.g. quarter-end and year-end).
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, automation and efficiency, including use of systems and AI-enabled tools.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Essential
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant/tax professional (ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT or equivalent).
- Good grounding in UK corporate tax, with some exposure to VAT.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate technical tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt in a commercial, in-house environment.

- Experience preparing corporate tax computations and returns.
- Exposure to tax accounting, deferred tax or VAT compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and advanced Excel reporting.
