Senior Scientist I

World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes.

The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

THE ROLE:

We currently have some exciting opportunities for Senior Scientists to join our R&D sensor development teams, where the main responsibilities will include developing new sensor technologies for large volume manufacturing and providing technical expertise to identify and implement on-market product improvement programmes.

By leading workstreams within the development of our newest products you will help translate proven technology into commercial products and will support the continued development of our sensor technology.

The roles will require technical collaboration across functions including Engineering, Regulatory, Commercial, Quality, Clinical Affairs & Research & Development organisations worldwide.

ABOUT YOU:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual, able to manage a multitude of interrelated activities with varying priorities, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. You will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills . You will be degree qualified in a technical discipline with some experience of working in industry, preferably in medical devices or another regulated environment. Preference will be given to those with prior exposure to collaboration with multiple internal cross-functional groups. Experience leading a team welcome but not essential .
