We are looking for an Occupational Health Advisor (OHA), who will be based mainly in our Castle Donington (East Midlands) medical center.

What You’ll Do

As an OHA, you will be responsible for delivering a full range of Occupational Health duties, including:

  • Case management, all mandatory, regulatory, and general medicals such as rail industry medicals, safety-critical medicals, health surveillance, train drivers medicals, HAVS (an added advantage), and health and wellbeing services.
  • Working with our customers at medical centers, customer sites, or remotely to provide support, advice, and guidance to managers and employees regarding sickness absence, workplace environment, risk assessment, stress management, and return to work following absence.
  • Lone working: Ability to work independently in medical centers and onsite, conducting health surveillance and various medical assessments (training can be provided).
  • Providing advice to managers and HR regarding staff capable or incapable of undertaking their duties, within customer policy guidelines.
  • Supporting risk assessments related to health matters affecting staff.
  • Keeping up-to-date with legislation and best practices related to Occupational Health.
  • Working with head office to increase service utilization and performing dashboard work as required.
  • Participating in network learning opportunities, updating on clinical improvements, and achieving clinical goals, such as delivering updates on relevant innovations.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health, with evidence of ongoing professional development; Part 3 of NMC Register is desirable.
  • Qualification in Hand Arm Vibration and experience with drug and alcohol testing using chain of custody protocols is desirable.
  • Ability to perform medicals and surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessments, HAVS, and safety-critical medicals.
  • Experience in the rail industry for train driver medicals, with additional training.
  • Ability to conduct face-to-face and remote case management assessments.
  • Ability to work effectively with HR, Health & Safety professionals, and occupational health partners.
  • Ability to identify key health issues and develop procedures and solutions.
  • Willingness to travel between sites; must have business insurance.
  • Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
