The Opportunity

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions. Abbott Rapid Diagnostics – Infectious Disease business is currently recruiting for a brand new Medical & Scientific Affairs Lead who will be based in Abbott House, Maidenhead, Berkshire with occasional travelling required out of the UK.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a highly knowledgeable resource within the organization, overseeing the direction, planning, and execution of clinical trials and research activities.
  • Contribute to the implementation of clinical protocols and facilitate completion of final reports.
  • Recruit clinical investigators and negotiate study design and costs.
  • Plan and execute Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) and sponsored studies.
  • Participate in adverse event reporting and safety monitoring responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and provide reporting information for submissions to regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor adherence to protocols and determine study completion.
  • Oversee investigator initiations and group studies.
  • Act as a consultant/liaison with other corporations under licensing agreements.

Required Qualifications/Profile

  • Education: Degree in Microbiology or Infectious Diseases (or equivalent diploma/degree).
  • Experience: Strong background in clinical stakeholder engagement and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) management.
  • Proven track record in building networks and maintaining relationships.
  • Expertise in communicating scientific content to diverse audiences.
  • Thorough knowledge of the UK healthcare industry, including NHS and private providers.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic industry practices in infectious diseases and relevant markets.
