The Opportunity Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry‑leading technologies to support diagnostic testing that provides essential information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions. We are recruiting a brand‑new Key Account Manager for a national position within the Rapid Diagnostics Division (ARDx) – Infectious Diseases, with a national remit across the UK.

As a Key Account Manager you will work across all levels within the NHS, Public Health and Local Authority settings, implementing national strategies for new and existing products and services, mapping and building stakeholder relationships. You will help ensure Abbott Rapid Diagnostics leads with rapid diagnostic testing in both primary and secondary care settings, requiring management and influence across a wide variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop markets and customers, achieve sales targets, and provide general customer service in the various areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and execute the full Abbott Rdx product portfolio (with a key focus on microbiology and antimicrobial susceptibility testing) within the UK.
  • Lead and initiate projects or work as part of a project team, demonstrate excellent business acumen, and strive to meet and exceed agreed financial and strategic objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with all stakeholders in key accounts.
  • Participate in all sales and marketing meetings as well as all important congresses.
  • Understand sales strategies and transfer UK marketing campaigns to regional level.
  • Articulate issues and business opportunities with customers to secure long‑term strategic business opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in sales and point‑of‑care/diagnostics/lab industry.
  • Experience in microbiology and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (preferred).
  • Familiarity with laboratory and diagnostic industry practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of the UK healthcare industry, NHS and private healthcare providers.
  • Consistent track record of achieving profitable growth.
  • Proven success in complex negotiations and contract delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of leasing, managed services and long sales cycles.
  • Experience driving change initiatives in customer‑focused organisations.
  • Confident, persuasive communicator with strong stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Innovative thinking and willingness to challenge existing ways of working.
  • Self‑motivated, resilient, and effective in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Results‑driven with exceptional selling skills and customer focus.
  • Experienced working with primary and secondary care stakeholders.
  • Skilled in building robust business cases.
  • Background in medical devices, diagnostics or laboratory environments.
  • Proficient in CRM systems and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
