Abbott’s Diabetes Care business designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. We have recently launched a new system that will revolutionise how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior STARS Technician to lead our Product Test team in providing quality and compliant Sensor testing. Developing, leading and motivating your team, you will ensure quality, yield and output deliverables, maintain and champion EHS initiatives, and drive 6s and process improvements.

On a day-to-day basis, you will take ownership for your area, acting as a representative at daily meetings, reporting on metrics, escalating issues effectively, and coordinating between teams. You will support the daily walk-around activities, interacting with quality, engineering, and other relevant support functions as required.

Through visual inspection of sensors and undertaking a series of physical testing procedures, you will utilise laboratory equipment, machinery and instruments to perform sensor testing and batch record review and approval to support product release, on-market stability, complaints, and product development trials. In addition to this, you will support the control and scheduling of tests, monitor and assist with daily laboratory activities, and maintain awareness of new/changed products and processes within the area.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who can effectively multi-task whilst working within the scope of procedures and protocols, and offer good communication and time management skills.

This is a night shift position, working a 4-on / 4-off shift pattern (7:00pm – 7:00am). We are looking for candidates who are available to start in July. You should have completed, as a minimum, secondary education in English and Mathematics. Previous experience of working in a laboratory (including experience of GLP and GMP) and use of a variety of analytical/testing instruments to provide a general knowledge of laboratory science is preferred.
